Pro Bono Counseling (PBC), a nonprofit organization that links Marylanders experiencing difficulty accessing mental health care with volunteer licensed counselors and other resources, announces the appointment of a new member to its Board of Directors: Michelle Pulliam, CPA.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Michelle to the Board,” stated PBC Board President Eboni Barksdale-Smith, CRCCPA. “Given Michelle’s expertise and strong background in financial management and leadership, she has been elected Treasurer, and we look forward to working together to navigate the organization’s financial needs as we meet its strategic goals.”
Michelle Pulliam, CPA, is a highly accomplished accounting professional with over 15 years of progressive experience spanning public accounting, private education, real estate development, non-profit healthcare, and chemical manufacturing. Her career reflects a consistent commitment to excellence in financial oversight, strategic management, and collaborative leadership.
Currently, Michelle serves as Accounting Manager for Advanced Refined Technologies, a joint venture between WR Grace and Chevron USA, where she leads accounting operations and financial statement preparation with precision and accountability. Earlier in her career, she honed her expertise as an auditor of financial statements during her tenure in public accounting.
Beyond her professional achievements, Michelle is a passionate advocate for accessible mental health care. Her dedication stems from personal experiences, including her work as a licensed foster parent in Baltimore County and her deep belief in eliminating stigma around mental health treatment.
Michelle’s commitment to service is complemented by a rich personal life. She enjoys traveling the world with her large, blended family, engaging in outdoor activities, and immersing herself in literature. At home, she focuses on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where family and friends feel welcome and valued.
“Joining Pro Bono Counseling aligns with my goal to ensure everyone has access to competent, affordable, and compassionate mental health services,” Michelle stated. “I am honored to bring my professional expertise and personal passion to Pro Bono Counseling’s mission, making a meaningful impact in the community.”
PBC’s Board of Directors is led by Board President Eboni Barksdale-Smith, CRCCPA, Vice President Amory Cockrell, CPRM, Secretary Shane Tanzymore, and newly elected Treasurer Michelle Pulliam, CPA.
