Course Description: Services delivery in survivor services has changed since 2020. In this interactive course, we will discuss the rapid shift in service delivery during the uncertain times of early pandemic and how service provision in survivor services has shifted as the world adapted to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Join us as we discuss how COVID-19 has made a lasting impact on how Turnaround Inc. provides services to survivors of intimate partner violence. Together we will explore strategies for supporting and working with survivors of intimate partner violence during COVID-19 as well as safety planning strategies specific to telehealth.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, the participant will:
• Understand the intersection of COVID-19 and intimate partner violence.
• Discuss the changes in service delivery during the pandemic.
• Identify strategies for safety planning in telehealth.
• Identify effective interventions for continued work with survivors of intimate partner violence during the on-going pandemic.
Presenter Bio: Beth Webb, LMSW
Beth Webb is a Licensed Master of Social Worker who earned her master’s degree in Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2019. Beth has worked with children, adolescences, adults, and families in school and outpatient settings as well as in a pediatric behavioral hospital. Most of Beth’s experience is with clients experiencing trauma symptoms, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, and depression. Beth has been working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and human trafficking at Turnaround Inc. since March of 2020. Beth primarily uses the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) treatment modalities, but has found that the uniqueness of each individual requires an equally unique treatment approach and so supplements her approach based on the needs of the client. Beth believes in the benefit therapy can have on the lives of her clients and feels privileged to be a part of her clients’ journeys. Beth strives to always create a safe and judgment free environment for every client.
Presenter Bio: Elisabet Martinez, LCSW-C LICSW
Elisabet Martinez is a clinical social worker and holds over fifteen years of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking. She is experienced in solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral theory, child-centered play therapy and other treatment modalities. Elisabet also provides services in Spanish. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Houston and her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Texas.
Workshop registrants will receive a code prior to the webinar to log on to Zoom and participate in the online session.
