Course Description: This workshop will give attendees an overview of chronic worry as seen in OCD and generalized anxiety disorder, how to identify it, and how to treat it. Attendees will gain an understanding of why commonly used methods to address worry often end up backfiring and leave with practical tools to utilize in their practice.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, the participant will:
- Explain why many attempts to address worry in therapy fail.
- Describe the process of worry as a habit.
- Apply five specific techniques for helping clients recognize and interrupt worry.
Presenter Bio:
Megan English is a licensed graduate professional counselor in Maryland. She began her career as a therapist working at a local community mental health clinic while simultaneously completing a post-graduate traineeship at the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland, LLC, training under the supervision of Carl Robbins, LCPC. After a year and a half of training, Megan transitioned to working full-time as a Clinical Associate at ASDI where she continues to specialize in OCD and anxiety disorders.
Workshop registrants will receive a code prior to the webinar to log on to Zoom and participate in the online session.
