To continue to encourage clinicians to volunteer their time, the Pro Bono Counseling Project is hosting its first annual “Invite a Colleague Workshop.” When signing up for our Spirituality workshop, if you would like to bring a colleague who is not already registered with the Pro Bono Counseling Project please include their contact information and they will enjoy the benefits of the workshop including breakfast, free CEUs, informational packets, and an informative seminar.
 
William Shore, PhD
Dr. William (Bill) Shore is a practicing psychologist with over 25 years of experience. He graduated with a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Georgia, and currently has a general practice in Rockville, MD. Most of his clients are adults and adolescents.
 
Dr. Shore has a growing interest in the field of  spirituality, which he defines as “one's individual quest for truth, purpose and meaning in life.” He notes that an increasing number of his clients are seeking help with these basic issues. Throughout the last several years, Dr. Shore has given many presentations regarding the crossroads of psychotherapy and spirituality.
 
Currently, Dr. Shore is writing a book of spiritually-oriented stories that can be used by therapists to enhance the therapeutic process. Its name is: "Tales to Tell the World; What Happens when Ordinary People do Extraordinary Things."
 
Maureen O’Brien, LCPC, MA, MS, CAS
Maureen O’Brien has been a full time Certified Chaplain at St. Joseph Medical Center since 1996 working first as the Hospice Chaplain, in other critical care and cardiac areas and now in the Cancer Institute as well as being Palliative Care Chaplain Coordinator.  She first became involved in Hospice at Union Memorial Hospital in the 1980’s and at Elliott Hospital and the VA in Manchester, New Hampshire  as a Chaplain Volunteer.
 
Ms. O’Brien is a Pastoral Counselor and has worked at Pastoral Counseling Services of Maryland since 1986. Now part time, she is working with individuals and couples integrating emotional and spiritual well-being.
 
Maureen O’Brien has a MS and CAS from Loyola College and a MA from St. Mary’s Seminary Ecumenical Institute. She is a LCPC through the state of Maryland and a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors as well as a member of National Catholic Chaplains Association.
 
Helen Kauffman, LCSWC
Helen Kauffman has been in private practice for over 15 years. She graduated from the University of Maryland and has earned her LCSW-C through the state of Maryland.
 
She has extensive training in Interpersonal, Behavioral and Cognitive therapies and is also trained in Energy Therapies that focus on the integration of the Body/Mind/Spirit in a holistic way. Lastly, Ms. Kauffman is EMDRIA Certified in EMDR; a protocol used to heal trauma.
