The Pro Bono Counseling Project is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1991 to provide free mental health care to individuals, families and couples who live and/or work in Maryland who can not receive care from any other source. The Pro Bono Counseling Project links clients with therapists for counseling -- it does not provide medications or medication resources.
More than 650 licensed and insured clinical social workers, psychologists, professional counselors, psychiatrists and nurse psychotherapists have agreed to take at least one voluntary case each year from the Pro Bono Counseling Project. For most cases, there is no limit to the number of sessions. Therapists do their best to help individuals and families reach their goals. The Pro Bono Counseling Project will make every effort to accommodate varying work schedules, transportation and language needs. The therapists are located in individual offices across the state of Maryland and there is never a waiting list.
