Cross-cultural Therapeutic Interactions
Presenters: Amy Greensfelder, Executive Director, The Pro Bono Counseling Project and Vanessa (Sepopo) Howard, Clinical Associate, The Pro Bono Counseling Project
This interactive workshop will provide practical information about cultural identities, cross cultural interactions, and how culture may influence mental health/outcomes. PBCP staff will share tips for incorporating consumer and provider culture into therapeutic interactions.

 

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the importance of cultural competency in mental health treatment.

2. Identify one’s own culture and how cultural identities influence mental health interactions.

3. Describe ways to encourage conversation about cultural differences.

4. Identify community resources that are culturally responsive.
